Amnesty condemns 'impunity' after France 24's Pakistan correspondent is beaten

IN THE WORLD PAPERS - Thursday, January 11: Riots break out in Pakistan over the brutal rape and murder of a young girl. Meanwhile, France 24's Pakistani correspondent Taha Siddiqui is beaten by a gang of armed men in what's seen as an attempt to intimidate critics of the military establishment. There's also a scandal in Australia over comments made by the Prime minister about gangs of "African descent". On a lighter note, Serena Williams and her daughter grace the cover of Vogue next month!

"Justice for Zainab" becomes a rallying cry. Pakistani newspaper Dawn focuses on the rape and murder of a young girl that's shocked the country.

Also, African-Australians fight back with grace and dignity after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says African gangs are behind a recent spate of violence in the city of Melbourne.

And Serena Williams talks motherhood and tennis in February's issue of Vogue as she and her daughter grace the cover of the American fashion magazine.
